I pay the $9 for the free range eggs because I figure that’s the least I can do if I’m going to consume animal products- at least try to pick those that are as ethical as possible even if that’s a contradiction.

But I’m single with no kids so I can afford it, theoretically. It hurts me too but I guess my guilt at not being a vegan hurts more. However I completely sympathize with the author…. if they increase prices meant better quality food I would take it, but we’re still getting the same GMO crap for way more money.
