According to my mom, she was doing more of an "arranged introduction" rather than an arranged marriage. I.E. the parents vet and find the guy and introduce you two, but then people date as usual. That's what she claimed, but the pressure to make a decision within a few dates was so intense, and the nosy questions so much, I dropped the whole thing, and never let my parents interfere again.
